So it was another semi-guy night. Jef and Marc met at Chapters Dalhousie where lengthy conversation began.
Girls in swishy skirts and short, boyish, Natalie Portman haircuts meandered through the labyrinth of the shelves of books. Summer is here, they silently sang.
They walked, they talked.
They decided to go to Peter's Drive-in. Milkshakes (I DRINK IT UP!) were bought, Jef even tried a new flavour. It was bold.
They drove, they talked.
Marc suggested a patio, and so it was done. The first patio they inquired about was "too cold", they were turned away because the
others were not courageous to sit in the late evening breeze. They persisted in their search.
The second patio they found was mostly barren, but open and available. They sprung into action, ordered water and beer. Marc was found to be the souse of the group... a fact that escapes no one - that
had escaped no one ever before.
They sat, they talked.
Tyler eventually joined them. His battle wounds were squishy and swollen, a pocket of liquid pain and embarrassment. They ate corn chips seasoned with cut vegetables and spicy sauces, baked in golden cheese. They drank deep of their cups, delved deep into conversation, explored deep truths and untruths and half-truths.
And it was good.
They parted, Jef and Marc having early mornings the following day.
But the lessons learnt and the sentiments shared were lasting. Wisdom was the reward that day... wisdom of knowledge beyond their years, of knowledge that comes not from being told but from being experienced and shared.
